Human trafficking. Sex slaves. Child slavery.
It’s something Americans associate with a few European or third world countries. But the U.S. State Department’s 2009 “Trafficking in Humans” Report documents problems in 175 nations.
Girls, women, children and even teen boys are being deceived, kidnapped, trapped and shipped everywhere from America to Africa.
And it could be happening at our neighborhood mini-market.

The wholesale trafficking of humans
From California to New England, the problem is spreading within the United States. It’s becoming as uncontrollable as the drug war that has raged for decades, despite the government’s best efforts. Read more... (625 words, 2 images, estimated 2:30 mins reading time)

Mothers in Britain are angry at Liberal Democrats because they plan to let 16-year-olds star in pornographic films and watch them as well.
Mumsnet, a popular Web site for mothers, is up in arms over the controversial liberal democrat policy about porn, which overwhelmingly passed at the party’s conference in 2004.
Mothers on the site claim it is “essentially legalization of child porn.”
One mom, who goes by the screen name crystal123, said on the Mumsnet Web site: “Many young people aged 12 appear 16 or 17 and could easily end up in explicit pornography. Young people need protecting from perverts, and those who would exploit them in this industry. The Liberals/Libdems or whatever they now call themselves use weasel words to advocate the exploitation of children.” Read more... (396 words, 1 image, estimated 1:35 mins reading time)

The Parents Television Council has released their October 2009 survey illustrating a troublesome increase in violence against women on television shows.
Here are some highlights from the findings in Women in Peril: A Look at TV’s Disturbing New Storyline Trend:
-There’s been a 400 percent increase in the depiction of teen girls as victims across all networks from 2004 to 2009.
-Incidences of violence against women on the four main TV channels –ABC, CBS, Fox and NBC—rose 120 percent between 2004 and 2009.
-Overall violence of other types during the same time frame increased only 2 percent. Read more... (423 words, 2 images, estimated 1:42 mins reading time)

‘Porn for Porn’ says University atheist group as they misinterpret the Bible’s sexual stories

A group of atheists at the University of Texas San Antonio Campus renewed their yearly “smut for smut” exchange campaign this month. Porn for porn? No….
The Atheist Agenda group, formed on campus in 2005, encouraged students to turn in their Bibles in exchange for pornographic material.
This year, it caused quite the stir at numerous media outlets as diverse as Huffington Post and Fox News.
The atheists claim the Bible is full of sexual stories with mistreatment of women—no different than your average book of porn—and that it is a parallel trade-off. Read more... (544 words, 2 images, estimated 2:11 mins reading time)

The porn industry would have us believe that pornography is a harmless, victimless crime – and they even go so far as to say pornography “empowers” women (see this previous Underground article). Purveyors of porn title theirs a “Business of Pleasure” as seen in a July 2009 CNBC special, where one female porn star says “I just treat it like any job.” Women are now producing and directing pornographic films.
If porn takes no victims, then we wouldn’t need “Victims of Pornography Month,” which happens in May each year, and we wouldn’t need “White Ribbons Against Pornography Week” (WRAP) – taking place Sunday, October 25 through Sunday, November 1, 2009. WRAP is sponsored by the Morality in Media organization. Read more... (583 words, 1 image, estimated 2:20 mins reading time)

Another take on Apple and its headline making apps
After the removal of the pornographic application known as “Hottest Girls” (designed by app developer Allen Leung) for the increasingly popular Apple iPhone, it seems the multinational consumer electronics giant is seeking to clear its name of any connection to sexually explicit material.
In a bold, albeit somewhat of a shallow and pedantic move, Apple has implemented Christian iPhone app developer Island Wall Entertainment’s Purity Ring Application, “in an attempt to engage with today’s youth using new mediums,” according to Christian Today.
