Pop Culture Moments by Mo: Pray for the Nigerian Underwear Bomber

Posted on 07 January 2010

Twenty-three-year-old Nigerian national, Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab will get his day in court tomorrow when he is Umar Farouk Abdulmutallabarraigned for attempting to use a weapon of mass destruction to destroy a Detroit-bound airplane with a homemade bomb sewn into his underwear as it prepared to land on Christmas Day.

His six-count federal indictment could bring him a life-plus prison sentence.

Some are already saying Abdulmutallab’s religion, Islam, is the reason he allegedly decided to become a mass-murderer.

Luckily, God in His Sovereignty didn’t allow the misguided Abdulmutallab to take human life.

Since Abdulmutallab already has to answer to God and the law of the land, instead of trying to punish him with our punditry,  let’s do something productive.

Let’s pray for him.

So all you true Christians out there– not you guys who dabble in Astrology on the side or you guys who confuse patriotism with Christianity — pray that Christ would open Abdulmutallab’s eyes, so that even though this “attack” could have been something bad, God will have made it something good.
