DNA results match Muslim boys charged in rape of Christian Girl
In what may be a landmark case, forensic DNA results showed yesterday that semen samples matched two Muslim boys accused of raping a 14-year-old Christian girl in Lahore, Pakistan, according to Compass Direct News.
The case is a breakthrough because Muslims commonly commit crimes against Christians in Pakistan assuming law enforcement officials will not prosecute them, CDN said.
The two boys, Muhammad Noman and Muhammad Imran, both 17, were arrested on May 26 for raping the unnamed Christian girl.
Khalid Gill, president of the Christian Lawyers Foundation, and officials of the National Commission of Justice and Peace said the boys abducted and drugged the girl before raping her. Noman and Imran were charged with abduction “with intent to commit adultery.”
The girl was waiting for her younger sister at the main gate of S.M. Foundation School after class hours when Noman and Imran told her that a girl named Hira wanted to see her, CDN said.
The girl said she didn’t know anyone named Hira, but saw no problem meeting a girl. As she stepped off the school grounds Noman and Imran overpowered and gagged her, then took her by motorbike to an unknown place.
She was given a soft drink containing tranquilizers and as she began to lose consciousness, each boy raped her. The boys later left her on a road near the school’s main entrance, CDN said.
The girl was found unconscious on the road near the school gate after the girl’s mother frantically searched for her with the help of Christian neighbors. The girl’s father is deceased, CDN said.
Police sent DNA samples of the semen of both Muslim youths to a forensic laboratory, and the results which linked them to the crime returned this week, CDN said.
A urine test indicated the girl was not pregnant, CDN reported.
