Family Christian Stores announces new fair trade products
Family Christian Stores has announced that they are now offering fair trade products from partners representing more than 20 countries.
When you purchase a “Greater Goods” item from Family Christian, you’ll be helping to break the cycle of poverty and give artisan and their family a future and a hope.
The new program is starting with two companies’ products; Global Girlfriend and Go Fish Clothing and Jewelry Company.
Global Girlfriend offers women the opportunity to work from home so they can care for their families while they create their pieces. Go Fish buys handcrafted goods at the artisans’ asking price.
Fair trade rewards honest work and changes lives. “Each item we carry has a story,” says the company. “True stories of people, purpose and promise. Greater Goods is our chance to tell a good story, a better story. And to invite others into this story.”
The inspiration for Greater Goods comes from James 1:27, “Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.” (NIV).
Currently, Greater Goods are only available at select locations, but the chain states that they will be adding new locations every week. For now, the limited locations are:
- Everett, WA
- Torrance, CA
- Humble, TX
- Newark , DE
- Fairfax, VA
- Manassas, VA
- Fort Wayne, IN
- Independence, MO
- Colorado Springs, CO
