Vietnamese children are eager for illustrated Children’s Bible

Despite attempts by the Vietnamese government to control or wipe out Christian believers, people in the villages remain open to the bible.

A report from Mission Network News said that even amid persecution, tribal people living in the mountains in southern and central Vietnam are asking for Christian literature. Most in demand is the bible, which is largely supplied by Open Doors.

The illustrated Children’s Bible is a favorite of young children and many of them walk for miles so they can attend the weekly Sunday School, which for a long time has been the only way they get to have a bible, Mission Network News reported.

Open Doors is, however, working to give special illustrated Children’s Bibles away. One Christian mother, Sister Linh, told Mission Network News that her eight-year-old daughter has read her entire bible four times.

Notably, even non-Christians are interested in getting a copy of the Open Doors bible. A Christian teacher at a government school said that the head teacher of the school saw children reading the illustrated Children’s Bible and asked for a copy as well, Mission Network News said.

The husband of the Christian teacher, who is a pastor, said that non-Christian parents wanted to buy copies of the bible as well. “My wife told them that the bibles are not for sale–they are gifts!” Mission Network News reported.
