Pediatricians advise against encouragement of gender-confused behavior

The American College of Pediatricians has launched a new web site appealing to educators across the United States.
They are asking schools, school officials and parents not to encourage sexual experimentation among students who feel they may be homosexual or gender-confused.
The Web site, “Facts About Youth” also carries information for the students themselves.
The ACP has also sent a letter and fact sheet to more than 14,000 school superintendents.
This group of health professionals presents the theory that children and adolescents are often confused at first, but if given the chance, they grow out of it and into natural affections for the opposite sex.
Little boys and girls may switch to playing with dolls of the opposite gender. That behavior, says ACP, is usually discouraged but may actually be healthy. Most children also don’t often like the opposite sex until they are pre-adolescent.
The pediatricians say these feelings should not be a green light to encourage alternative sexual orientations or experimentation.
Some points The American College of Pediatricians brings up:
-Schools should refrain from adopting policies encouraging non-heterosexual attractions.
-Schools should not be quick to establish and accept various sexual labels.
-It should never be offered as proven fact that a homosexual or trans-gender orientation is non-changeable.
The organization refers to evidence from The National Association for Research & Therapy of Homosexuality (NARTH) that homosexuality, lesbianism and bisexuality are not necessarily fixed, life-long conditions.
NARTH’s evidence has long been refuted by organizations supporting gay rights, but claims to date there is no scientific proof of a gay gene.
NARTH advises that Gender Identity Disorder (GID, transexualism) is a correctable mental disorder, but that these feelings are encouraged today instead of applying recommended treatment to correct the disposition.
The Facts for Youth website also offers information from the Centers for Disease Control about the overwhelming dangers of homosexual or bisexual activity to the health of young people.
ACP’s position runs contrary to today’s political correctness:
What the American College of Pediatricians is saying could be declared “hate speech” according to current trends in tolerance and diversity:
-In April of each year since 1996, a “Day of Silence” takes place in public schools. This day was created by GLSEN (The Gay, Lesbian, Straight Education Network) in conjunction with other gay rights groups to end what they consider to be the constant bullying and taunting of gay children and teens across the country.
On the Day of Silence, all students are to remain silent about the issue of homosexuality or gender confusion for an entire day. Liberty Counsel and other law firms are informing parents that it is not illegal to keep children out of school that day, as a form of protected religious free speech.
-Cities in Florida, Texas and other states have recently adopted or are considering ordinances to allow persons of various sexual orientations to use the other sex’s bathrooms in public places.
-Congress is once again set to vote on ENDA, The Employment Non-Discrimination Act, (S. 1584/H.R. 3017 ). ENDA has circulated for years without garnering enough votes to pass. It is a measure guaranteeing, among other new rules, that schools and businesses must allow cross-dressers, transsexuals, and other gender-confused persons to appear as they wish on a daily basis without being reprimanded.
President Obama’s recent appointee to the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) is Chai Feldblum, one of the main authors of ENDA. Critics of ENDA fear the sexual orientation language is so broad that it could include fetishes such as bestiality.
What does the Bible say?
Bible critics state that if we obey the Old Testament’s laws about homosexuality (Leviticus 18:22-23; 20:13), we would still be stoning gays and lesbians to death. But in the New Testament, Jesus died once for all to cover our sins (Ephesians 1:7 for example).
And although same-sex behavior is still considered a sin (Romans 1:26-32, 1 Corinthians 6:8-10, 1 Timothy 1:9-11), Bible believers are in no way instructed to hate or harm the person(s) involved.
On the contrary, we are to lovingly attempt instruction and restoration of people involved in all sin. The problem is—behaviors of a sexual nature outside marriage between a man and a woman are no longer considered sin by secular society.

Sheryl, I actually thought this was interesting. I’ve heard reports on gender-confused children on NPR and seen them via news outlets such as the BBC. In all instances, the parents were encouraged to let their children be “themselves.” If that meant boys wearing girls clothes, such as dresses it was deemed okay.
Tiffany – Yeah, the ACP group implies there’s an age break (see paragraph about little girls and boys). For example, if a girl is a tomboy and dresses boyishly, it doesn’t mean she’s gay or gender-confused. She might grow out of it. It may be a little more complicated for boys dressing as girls. But then, I’m just the reporter, not the psychologist!
@Sheryl Thanks for the “splaining.” I’ll have to try to find links to the NPR stuff…these were little boys wearing wigs and dresses and going all out. It was crazy…Whenever I go back to Atlanta, I’m always troubled by the number of teenaged boys who are walking around in women’s clothing–no lie. I think that’s a story in itself…looking for the NPR link…

You can stream it for free. It’s the second act–”Act Two. Tom Girls.
Lilly and Thomasina have a lot in common. They’re both 8 years old. And they were both born boys, although it became clear pretty early on that they’d prefer to be girls. There aren’t all that many kids in the world like them, but recently, at a conference in Seattle on transgender parenting, they met. And they immediately hit it off. They could talk about things with each other that they’d never been able to share with other friends back home. And that’s comforting, even if they never see each other after the conference ends. Producer Mary Beth Kirchner tells the story, with production help from Rebecca Weiker. (17 minutes) Song: “Somewhere Out There,” The soundtrack to “American Tail”
Maybe a bit OT but somehow it made me to think of this video

I wonder if this against the teaching of Bible. Can someone call Phil Done Huan and ask.
@Yeshua
Good video. I don’t know what it has to do with the topic, but thanks for sharing nonetheless.
Erm..maybe if they had not encouraged the elephant and the dog to be themselves they would not be “so species confused”. Don’t know how they have sex though.
The ‘American College of Pediatricians’ are homophobic hateful people who masquerade as scientists. They are few in number and without human decency. They hope to gain authority by being mistaken for the bona fide organisation the ‘American Academy of Pediatrics’ http://www.aap.org/
Their leadership includes one George Rekers, evangelical Baptist minister and gay hater who recently went on holiday with a male prostitute he employed to give him erotic nude massages. Rekers work in fighting gay adoption has had the result of denying a secure and loving home to many of Florida’s abandoned children. And thats only a small part of it.
To Angwyn:
The news about George Rekers is indeed shocking. If he wanted to avoid being accused of such a thing, he shouldn’t have “looked for a massage” within the gay community. And he doesn’t deny knowing that the person was gay. I have no idea what he was thinking.
However, I would ask you to consider that, If you believe in God and the Bible, or even the Quran, then you know that all these texts say the devil is clever and crafty, and he can get under anyone’s skin and make them do things they really don’t want to do. This may be Reker’s case. We must wait for all evidence to come out.
I assure you, there are many good and decent Christians who do love every human being including homosexuals. We do not “hate” gays and lesbians, nor do we fear them as the word “homophobia” was devised to mean. And we don’t think homosexuality is “THE big sin.” However, those of us who believe the texts about sin, simply believe that in LOVING ways we should be able to talk to people about these things. Disagreeing, or feeling through faith that there is hope for someone to stop a certain life pattern, doesn’t automatically mean you hate or fear the people involved.
